Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 129

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 129
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
No matter how great the victory we have just experienced, we must never forget who brought the victory. We are blessed with overwhelming blessings. We, however, need to guard against falling back to idolatry. Idolatry is not about worshiping statues. Idolatry is bringing the true God of Heaven down to our level of understanding. Idolatry is attributing the work of God to natural occurrences. We need to be careful to remember that God is greater than all His creation. God is not ever to be brought down to our level of thinking. Do not forget what great victory God has done for you.
Joshua 24:13-27, And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. 14Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. 15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 16And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods; 17For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: 18And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God. 19And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. 20If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good. 21And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the Lord. 22And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the Lord, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses. 23Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel. 24And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey. 25So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem. 26And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. 27And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the Lord which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
God causes us to triumph. We need to thank God. Live your life so that others see Christ in us so that we can show others God’s love to all through salvation.
2 Corinthians 2:14-17, Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 15For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? 17For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 128

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 128
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
When God gives the victory it is always complete and with the result of true rest.
God always finishes His work
Joshua 21:43-45, And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. 44And the Lord gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
The ultimate victory is over sin with the result of complete rest in the eternal life in Christ. God has finished the victory over sin and the result is that we have eternal life, if we keep His commandment of trusting Christ by faith for His salvation. We can trust the Lord for this ultimate victory.
1 John 5:3-5, For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:11, And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 127

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 127
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
God gives the victory to each individual that seeks to serve the Lord. Sometimes the Lord uses others to help in gaining the victory, even if the victory is for someone else.
Joshua 18:1-4, And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them. 2And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. 3And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you? 4Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
We are instructed to fulfill the true law of God by helping others with their victories even when it does not directly affect us or for our personal victory. Our work will not be wearying if we focus on others in our Christian walk.
Galatians 6:2, Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:9-10, And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
