Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 24

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 24
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Bethel (house of God) ElBethel (God of the House of God)  Going to the house of God is not as important as meeting with the God of the House of God while there.

Gen 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
Gen 31:13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.
Gen 35:7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.

While at church our focus should always be on God himself. Church is not for what we can get out of it but what we put into our worship of Him.

1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

What is your idea of a good Sunday?  Is it that you went to church or is it that you met God there?

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 23

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 23:
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
It is possible to be in a place where the Lord is and not know it; including Bethel ( house of God.  We need to be careful not to miss seeing the Lord.

Gen 28:16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. Gen 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

We can be in church hearing the preaching of the Word of God and not see the Lord.  We should be careful not to miss what the Lord is doing but just being a hearer of the Word of God.

Jam 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Jam 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
Jam 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
Jam 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Jam 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Biblial Principles Daily Devotional Day 22

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 22
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
God gives us a glimpse of heaven when he is about to reveal His plan for us.  We need to get a vision of God and His realm before we can step into His plan.

Gen 28:12-15 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

God called His disciples with the desire to see Jesus.  God turned the world upside-down when these same men were known of others as being with Jesus.

John 12:21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
Act 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
