Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 108

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 108
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Witness: one who gives a true account of the event. The truth of the event is not only about what was seen but also the truth of accountability of the act seen. The judgment placed on the act demands that the witness to know the truth that is God-given. When it is not clear, then truth is sought from God’s man. The result is that evil be put away from God’s people.
Deuteronomy 17:6-13, At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. 7The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you. 8If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose; 9And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and enquire; and they shall shew thee the sentence of judgment: 10And thou shalt do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the Lord shall choose shall shew thee; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee: 11According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left. 12And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the Lord thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. 13And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
Jesus made a practical application of the truth found in the above passage. It was required of the witnesses to throw the first stones in the judgment made. However, when confronted with the job of the witness to be right and true to point people to the truth to remove evil from the presence of God’s people, they were confronted with their own evil. They all walked away. Jesus did confront the evil in the woman and by a touch of salvation, the evil departed. God’s law was fulfilled.
John 8:3-11, And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 107

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 107
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
We are to come to worship God offering a blemish free offering. We cannot change the truth of worship to something that just resembles a religious act. No reasonable facsimile will be accepted. Death comes to those who try to reach God their own way.
Deuteronomy 17:1-5, Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the Lord thy God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evilfavouredness: for that is an abomination unto the Lord thy God. 2If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the Lord thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the Lord thy God, in transgressing his covenant, 3And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel: 5Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
We cannot come to worship God when there is not unity of God’s people in worship. Looking like we are worshiping in church without being right with God and others is just like worshiping miniature idols of worship that is simply a facsimile of God but not the true One.
Matthew 5:23-24, Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 106

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 106
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word
God provides for those who are poor and in need. He does so by blessing one to help the other. What we have is God’s, to be used of God. We are not to hoard the blessing of God. This includes spiritual blessings. God saved us from bondage and gave us provision to begin our walk with Him. We have the message of salvation; we are to give to those who are “poor” in spirit.
Deuteronomy 15:7-15, If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: 8But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth. 9Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee. 10Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. 11For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. 12And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee. 13And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty: 14Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him. 15And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
Poor is having absolutely nothing not just less than another does. When we realize we have nothing and need the Lord to save us, we then are blessed with eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. We need to share this truth with all others as they too are poor, without anything, and in need of a Savior.
Matthew 5:3, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
