Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 17

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 17  Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
God does not judge the wicked the same as the righteous. God also preserves the wicked when the righteous are present. The wicked are judged based upon their rejection of the truth seen in the righteous. The righteous are judged based upon what we do in our lifetime for rewards in heaven.

Genesis 18:23, 32 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 32 And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.

We need to be in the world to help preserve it from judgment, because judgment is final. However, we do not need to be of the world. If we become like Lot, in looking like the world, we become ineffective. Make yourself known in the world as salt and light.

John 15:17-19 These things I command you, that ye love one another. 18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Matthew 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 16

Why Do I Believe What I Believe

Day 16
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Just because someone who is worldly and evils prospers does not mean that God is not in control. God allowed His descendants to become prosperous with possessions. When this is the ultimate goal in life, it ends with death. When we are blessed with eternal blessing as Isaac was, then the blessings in life never end.

Gen 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

The Bible does not teach having possessions on earth is wrong, but is asks us where is our heart regarding these things. What is your treasure? I have things that I need to function in my day to day life, but I do not count them as my treasure.

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Philippians 3:4-10 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Biblical Principles Daily Devotional Day 15

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 15
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
God is creator of all things and knows all things. This includes what people will be when they are grown. However, this does not mean God makes people be who they are. Ishmael was going to be a wild man because of the choices God knew he would make, not because He doomed him to be wild.

Gen 16:12-15 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. 13 And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? 14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. 15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.

When dealing with people, we must remember that what is in a man will come out of him. It is not that God pre-ordered people to be evil. It is that God knows that evil comes out of an evil person. What needs to change is what is in a person. That change can only come by that person accepting God’s plan of salvation which changes what is in the person.

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
