Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 80

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 80
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
People spoke out against God with unreal criticism and over exaggerated comments. God responded with a very real judgment.  The people cried out again for relief and mercy.  God responded with a visual picture of the judgment and mercy with an image.  The people were told to look and live.  God uses physical judgment and physical items to reach the people with mercy but only after humility.

Num 21:5-9 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.

Only humility brings grace.  Only humility allows us to resist the devil causing him to flee. Only humility allows us to get close to God.  Only humility allows us to see the dirt that needs to be cleaned. Afflictions should humble us so we can look and live.

James 4:6-9 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
