Why Do I Believe What I Believe
Day 11
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
When mankind unifies, has majority rules and man is left
alone they end up doing things that they can imagine. Ideas sound good in the
mind, but end up leading us away from God. When mankind is left to itself and
unifies there is nothing but trouble that comes.
Genesis 11:4-6 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city
and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name,
lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the LORD
came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one
language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from
them, which they have imagined to do.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that
are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not
in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the
lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the
world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God abideth for ever.
What we tend to imagine are things we know and see - worldly
things. We move toward our fleshly desires. Our love needs to move away from
ourselves and move toward God. The people at Babel were building a name for
themselves; this way of thinking always leads to wrong doing.
Why do I do what I do? Am I looking for credit, a name, to
be popular, to get what I imagine would be great to have?
