Why I Believe What I Believe
Day 151
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
The Lord is in control of all. The Lord establishes His
leaders to deliver the people from the power of the enemy. When the
people forget the Lord there is judgment. When the people cry for mercy
the Lord restores them by bringing in leaders to deliver them from the power of
the enemy. But when they forget the Lord and set up their own leaders the
people are warned that they nor their king can save them from the power of the
enemy.
1Samauel 12:6-15 And Samuel said unto the people, It
is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your
fathers up out of the land of Egypt.
Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before
the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your
fathers.
When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your fathers cried unto
the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your fathers
out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.
And when they forgat the LORD their God, he sold them
into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the
Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against
them.
And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned,
because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but
now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.
And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and
Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side,
and ye dwelled safe.
And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of
Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us:
when the LORD your God was your king.
Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD
hath set a king over you.
If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice,
and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also
the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:
But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel
against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against
you, as it was against your fathers.
1Samuel 12:24-25 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth
with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed,
both ye and your king.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
Knowing who you serve and why you serve will allow you to be
in the place where the Lord will keep you from the power of enemy. It is
not about outward actions as much as the truth of who we truly follow, the
Lord’s leadership or our own.
Matthew 15:1-9 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees,
which were of Jerusalem, saying,
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders?
for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also
transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother:
and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother,
It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free.
Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and
honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the
commandments of men.
