Why I Believe What I Believe
Day 64
Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Thanksgiving is easy when there is peace. The
sacrifice of peace offering is given with thanksgiving when life is
difficult. This is greatly illustrated by Elijah and the widow woman and
her son.
Lev 7:11-13 And this is the law of the sacrifice of
peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the LORD.
If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with
the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened
wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.
Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering
leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings.
1Ki 17:13-16 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and
do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it
unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal
shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that
the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and
she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
And the barrel
of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of
the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
No matter what your day brings, give thanks. Peaceful
living begins with the sacrifice of self to the lovingness of God and His
provision in all things. We can give thanks for all things.
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and
the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
