Biblical Principles Daily Devotionals Day 18

Why I Believe What I Believe

Day 18   Biblical Principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Even though God is Love, God does hate.

Genesis 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Romans 9:10-14 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Practical - Works that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.

The world has taught us that love is all important and hate is bad. The world has taught us that to be tolerant is an attribute to be proud of. What are we tolerant of? Sometimes we appear to love what God loves; Rebekah loved Jacob and so did God. But was it the same? Isaac loved Esau but God hated him. Was Isaac wrong to love Esau? It is said that what one generation tolerates, the next generation accepts; what that generation accepts, the next loves. In reverse order: that which is tolerated in one generation the previous generation probably hated. What does our generation love that we accept or tolerate that we should hate?

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
