Why I Believe What I Believe
Day 134
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
When
you follow a man and not God, no matter how godly that man may be, you will
always fall back into turning away from God when that man is gone. Follow God’s
man only as you truly follow God Himself.
Judges 4:1, And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of
the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
Judges 8:33, And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the
children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made
Baalberith their god.
Judges 10:5, And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.
Judges 10:6, And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of
the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods
of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the
gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
Judges 21:25, In those days there
was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
God
does put authorities in our life including men of God. We are instructed how we
are to conduct ourselves concerning these authorities. However, these
authorities receive their authority from God. Our focus should always be in
serving God not man. If we follow God and not man, we will obey God’s authority
and not lose focus when the authority God has given is gone and another moves
on the scene.
Hebrews 12:9, Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected
us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much
rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Hebrews 13:7-8, Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken
unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their
conversation. 8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for
ever.
Hebrews
13:17, Obey them that have the rule over
you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must
give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
