Day 121
Biblical Principle -
Absolute truth from God’s Word:
The Lord wants us to set up landmark memorials. These memorials are not intended to talk
about the “good ol’ days” These
landmarks are not to celebrate heroes of the past. These landmarks are intended so that we can
teach the next generation how great the Lord is today for them. The Lord is not a lord of the past but always
of the present.
Joshua 4:1-7 And it came to pass, when all the people were
clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
Take you twelve men out of the
people, out of every tribe a man,
And command ye them, saying, Take
you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet
stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave
them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
Then Joshua called the twelve men,
whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
And Joshua said unto them, Pass
over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take you
up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the
tribes of the children of Israel:
That this may be a sign among you, that
when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean
ye by these stones?
Then ye shall answer them, That the
waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when
it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones
shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
Practical - Works
that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
God is God of the living.
This includes those who have died physically in Him as seen in this
passage. The truth here also shows that
God is alive and is our God today as He was to them and is to them today. Stop looking back… look up and forward.
Mark 12:26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have
ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I
am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of
the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
