Day 47
Biblical Principle -
Absolute truth from God’s Word:
The sabbath day commandment is so much more than not working
on Saturday.
Today we worship the Lord on His day the first day of the
week, but the commandment is still a Biblical principle of absolute truth. The “do” of this commandment is not the key
but the truth being taught. We need to
stop and remember God is the God of all creation. He owns it all. He is above it all. When we begin to love the Lord with all our
heart we must realize how big God really is and our love is no small.
Exodus 20:8-11Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do
all thy work:
But the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor
thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle,
nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Practical - Works
that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
In
the Old Testament they paused on Saturday to remember God’s creation of all
things. The commandment was a picture of greater things to come. In the New Testament we pause on Sunday to
remember the new creation (creature in verse below) It is all about God’s ability to save us from
our sins. If he created all things then
surely He can save all.
Hebrews
10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the
very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered
year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one
sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
2Co
5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
