Why I Believe What I Believe
Day 105
Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:
Truth:
Do not act like, look like, live like the worldly people. The LORD wants us to
be different and distinct for a purpose. Sometimes standards are just for a
distinguishing mark, not for religious restrictions.
Deuteronomy 14:1-3, Ye are the children
of the Lord your God: ye shall not
cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead. 2For
thou art an holy people unto the Lord
thy God, and the Lord hath chosen
thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon
the earth. 3Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:
The
distinction given the Christian is to show worldly people good works to show we
are removed from darkness to the light.
Titus 2:14, Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all
iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good
works.
1 Peter 2:9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him
who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Matthew 5:14-16, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an
hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it
under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in
the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
