Biblical principle - Absolute truth from God’s Word:

Truth: Do not act like, look like, live like the worldly people. The LORD wants us to be different and distinct for a purpose. Sometimes standards are just for a distinguishing mark, not for religious restrictions.

Deuteronomy 14:1-3, Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead. ²For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. ³Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

Practical - Works that apply Biblical principle:

The distinction given the Christian is to show worldly people good works to show we are removed from darkness to the light.

Titus 2:14, Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 Peter 2:9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Matthew 5:14-16, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. ¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
