Day 144
Biblical Principle -
Absolute truth from God’s Word:
In the middle of a nations continuous rebellion against God
and following idols, God still has those who do right and want to serve the
Lord according to Scriptures. In the
middle of rebellion, God is performing His plan of salvation. The story of Ruth is just God’s working in
the midst of those missing God’s plan.
Ruth turned to God not knowing she would be the great grandmother of
David himself.
Ruth 1:1-4 Now it
came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the
land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of
Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
And the name of the man was
Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon
and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of
Moab, and continued there.
And Elimelech Naomi's husband died;
and she was left, and her two sons.
And they took them wives of the
women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other
Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
Ruth 1:15-17 And
she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her
gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to
leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou
goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be
my people, and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and
there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought
but death part thee and me.
Ruth 4:1-4 Then
went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of
whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit
down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
And he took ten men of the elders of
the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
And he said unto the kinsman,
Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land,
which was our brother Elimelech's:
And I thought to advertise thee,
saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my
people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not
redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to
redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will
redeem it.
Ruth 4:13-22 So
Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD
gave her conception, and she bare a son.
And the women said unto Naomi,
Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a
kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
And he shall be unto thee a
restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter
in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born
him.
And Naomi took the child, and laid
it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
And the women her neighbours gave
it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed:
he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Now these are the
generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,
And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat
Amminadab,
And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and
Nahshon begat Salmon,
And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz
begat Obed,
And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
Practical - Works
that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
The practical is that while Joseph was in line for being
king of Israel he was a carpenter to become the husband of Mary the mother of
Jesus. In the middle of a religious
crowd of Pharisees, Sadducees, and law followers, Jesus came. God was working His plan of salvation while
very little number of people were even paying attention. Pay attention!
Matthew 1:17-25 So all the generations from Abraham to David
are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into
Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into
Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was
on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came
together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a
just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to
put her away privily.
But while he thought on these
things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying,
Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that
which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their
sins.
Now all this was done, that it
might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with
child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep
did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had
brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
