Day 85
Biblical Principle -
Absolute truth from God’s Word:
God shows mercy and grace because of who He is. This story is overlooked many times but a
truth is established that affects the line of Christ. The Lord established the law of the Kinsman
Redeemer. Where would we be without a
Kinsman Redeemer?
Num 27:1-11 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son
of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the
families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his
daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
And they stood before Moses, and
before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by
the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
Our father died in the wilderness,
and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against
the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
Why should the name of our father
be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore
a possession among the brethren of our father.
And Moses brought their cause
before the LORD.
And the LORD spake unto Moses,
saying,
The daughters of Zelophehad speak
right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their
father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass
unto them.
And thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause
his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
And if he have no daughter, then ye
shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
And if he have no brethren, then ye
shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.
And if his father have no brethren,
then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his
family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a
statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.
Ruth 2:20 And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be
he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the
dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of
our next kinsmen.
Rut 4:4-9 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it
before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem
it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell
me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee;
and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
Then said Boaz, What day thou
buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the
Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his
inheritance.
And the kinsman said, I cannot
redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my
right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
Now this was the manner in
former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to
confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his
neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
Therefore the kinsman said unto
Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.
And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto
all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was
Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of
Naomi.
Practical - Works
that apply Biblical Principle:
This section is for you to find a way to apply the truth in
your life. I will try to give only one as example; there may be other practical
ways. This is what makes the Christian walk so important and makes it important
to have a deliberate purpose in everything we do.
We are redeemed forever by the blood of Christ. What a blessing having an eternal Kinsman
Redeemer.
1Pe 1:18-21 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of
Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before
the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God, that
raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might
be in God.
